| Dec 29th:Visit to Nomac 45 Today
members of the Wysox Fire Company paid visit to one of the becoming
familiar drill rigs in the coverage area. The rig is drilling for
natural gas in the marcellus shale formation. The department spent time
getting to know the workers and how the rig operates. The rigs are very
fast paced and also very dangerous. Hope you enjoy some of the pictures! Dec 26th: 1 Car MVA
Dec 22nd: Winter Driving Tips Posted by: Jordan Palmer If you must drive in winter weather, we urge you to follow these winter driving tips.
Dec 8th: Standing Stone Vehicle Fire Around 3:00 pm, Department 21 was dispatched to a 1 vehicle accident on Keene Summit road in Standing Stone Township. 1 arriving units reports one vehicle roll over fully engulfed in flames. The driver (the only passenger) from the vehicle was transported by an emergency helicopter from the scene to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. The driver of the vehicle was driving on a left curve while traveling north on Keene Summit Road. The driver of the vehicle lost control, and the vehicle traveled off the west side of the roadway. The vehicle rolled over numerous times before coming to rest off the west side of the roadway. Dec 1st: Truck Fire Inside a Structure
Nov 21th: Another Door Pop on 6 Posted by: Evan Barnes
At 1720
department 21 was dispatched to a 2 vehicle crash on rt 6 in front of
Mcdonalds; with injuries. Units from EMS and Fire were onscene less
than 3 minutes later and asked for the helicopter to be put on stand
by. Units also reported 1 patient with confinement, and the other
vehicle had one walking wounded. Once the rescue arrived on scene the
door was popped and the patient was loaded into the helicopter that was
landed in the Towanda Country Club Golf course. The other patient was
transported via Ambulance to Memorial Hospital. All units returned to
service at 1815.
Nov 8th & 9th: Pump Opps

This weekend departments in the area came together and took a 16 hour
Pump Operations level I class, hosted by Towanda fire dept. Saturday
the class learned how to read different gauges on the pumps and basic
pumping operations in the morning. In the afternoon the class went
outside and practiced in Towanda's parking lot, they practiced flowing
water through 1 or 2 lines while receiving water from either their tank
or a hydrant. The next morning the class learned how to calculate
friction loss and apply it to practical applications which were carried
out at the boat launch in Wysox that afternoon.
Nov 3rd: Side Swipe on 6

Around 0912 Department 21 was dispatched to a car and tractor trailer
accident on 6 in Standing Stone Township. While responding reports came
in of the truck fleeing the scene. First units on scene reported one
walking wounded. Several units left the scene upon arrival to locate
the other vehicle; it was found. The department returned to service at
1005.
Oct 30th: 2 car MVA Route 6

At
1712 Department 21, Wysox EMS, and Memorial ALS were dispatched to a
two car MVA at the intersection of Golf and Route 6. First arriving
units reported
2 vehicles off the road with no injuries. Department 21 returned in
service at 1752 after awaiting Pennsylvania State Police to investigate
the crash.
Oct 26th: Wreck and Run

Around 0000 Department 21 was dispatched to a 1 car rollover on Mercer
Hill Road. First units on scene confirmed reports that the patient Fled
the scene on foot. Rescue 2 crew completed a primary search finding no
patients. The vehicle struck a tree then continued down the road
rolling for close to 50 yards until coming to rest on its roof. Units
completed a secondary search of the woods and weeds, not finding
anything they cleared the road and turned the scene over to
Pennsylvania State Police. Back in service 0200.
Oct 12th: More Work In Wysox

Department
21 was dispatched to a brush fire on Route 187 North, around the area
of Cook's Pit. First arriving units reported a small fire. Units
extinguished the blaze quickly and returned back in service.

4:30 pm Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 car MVA in the Bradford
Town Center. While responding to the 1st call, Department 21 was also
dispatched to a 2 car MVA at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 187. Sept 29th: Door Pop on Route 6

Today
Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 car MVA on Route 6 in front of
Rolling Acres. First officer on scene, Lieutenant Evan Barnes,
confirmed 2 cars with 1 patient confined to the vehicle. Once 1st
Assistant Chief Ron Yates arrived on scene, he assumed commanded and
ordered the vehicle be cribbed and the door popped. With the door
popped and the patient removed from the vehicle, both drivers were
transported by EMS to the local Hospital for further evaluation. With
the roadway cleared and all equipment picked up, department 21 returned
to service at 1440.
Sept 28th: Wet 3 Car MVA on Route 6

Around 1300 Department 21 was dispatched to a one vehicle MVA on route 6 into a pole in the area of Flynn Beverage. First Arriving unit reports a 3 vehicle accident, no pole involved, and east bound lane blocked. 2 patients were transported to Memorial Hospital via Wysox EMS and Memorial EMS. Once Pennsylvania State Police arrived on scene the vehicle was removed from the road and the department was placed back in service at 1410. Sept 25th: 2 Alarm Fire on Johnson Hill:

At
1210 Department 21 was dispatched to a confirmed structure fire on
Johnson Hill Road in Wysox Township. While receiving confirmation of a
fully engulfed structure. Captain Chad Benjamin called for a 2nd alarm.
Once Department 15 Chief Billy Sheets arrived on scene he assumed
command. He called for a attack using the deck gun from Engine 3 on
alpha side of the house, and a 2 1/2 hand line on Charlie & delta
sides of the structure. Another 2 1/2 was also used on alpha side for
an attack. Once Wysox Chief Brett Keeney arrived on scene he assumed command.
The fire was under control around 1330. Crews Depts 15, 25, 11, and 4
assisted with Mop up which continued until 1530. With Mop up and over
haul completed all departments returned to their stations around 1600.

Around
1730, Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVA on Route 6 across
from Wendy's. First units on scene reported 2 cars, 1 in the center of
the roadway. Traffic was diverted around the scene and clean up began.
Once the vehicle in the roadway was removed and the debris was cleared,
Department 21 returned to service. Sept 1st: Labor Day Fender Bender

Late
afternoon on September 1st, Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 vehicle
MVA involving a car and motorcycle. First arriving units discovered the
Motorcycle was not involved but another car was. Both Patients refused
treatment and the vehicles were removed from the roadway and Department
21 returned back in service.
July 20th Busy Afternoon

Due to the storm that entered the area around 1800 Sunday night,
Company 21 kept busy. Between vehicle accidents and Trees and wires
down, they were out most of the evening. The first call came out as a
tree down on Fifth Ave in Wysox Township. The downed tree was quickly
taken care of. Then the department was dispatched to a Tree on a
house, in Standing Stone Township. The electric box came unattached
from the house. Once this mess was cleaned up. Department 21 was on
their way back to the firehouse, when they were dispatched to a 1
vehicle MVA. First arriving units confirmed 1 vehicle off the roadway
into heavy brush. After The accident was cleaned up, department 21
returned to standing stone for a small brush fire. Once order was
restored in standing stone, Department 21 and all apparatus returned to
the fire house and were put back into service. July 19th WVFC Hosts Claverack Today
the Wysox Fire Company hosted the annual Claverack Picnic. The day was
filled with voting for Zone officers and Guest speakers. There were
many vendors surround the area. Some of the vendors included: Sears,
Allis Hollow Equipment and many others. There were bucket rides and
inside entertainment for the kids. There was also the department famous
chicken dinners. Around
10:30 am Saturday morning, Department 21 was dispatched to a reported
structure fire on echo beach road in asylum township. With multiple
reports of a fully engulfed trailer. Chief Keeney request a second
alarm. With this request, personal from Department 25 and Department 15
were called to the scene. First units on scene reported heavy smoke and
fire coming from all sides of the structure. No one was home when the
fire broke out. The trailer as well as belongings were a total loss.
May 27th More Action for Company 21:

Around
2200 Department 21 was dispatched to a 1 car motor vehicle accident.
First reports were that there was a 1 vehicle roll over, no entrapment.
First units on scene confirmed the first reports. There was no one
seriously injured in this accident. A local wrecker service was
dispatched to help clean up the accident scene. All Department 21 units
were put back in service just after 2300.
May 16th Fire Prevention:

Today some Department 21 personal went to the Towanda Elem. School and
taught grades k-4 thru 3rd fire prevention. Lieutenants Tracy Gowin and
Evan Barnes along with Fire Fighter Jordan Palmer instructed the
students and teachers to get out of the house as soon as possible and
not to be scared of fire fighters. They showed students their gear and
how it is used to protect them in a fire. They also showed the students
air packs and some of the tools they use on fire scenes. At the end of
the presentations students and teachers were given little goody bags
full of information.
May 7th Modular Home vs Log Truck:

Around
1100 hours Department 21, Engine 4, Squad 7 and Rescue 2 was dispatched
to a Tractor Trailer accident on Route 187. First reports were Tractor
Trailer into a modular home. First arriving units confirmed, Log Truck
into the side of a Modular Home that had come unhooked from its
trailer. The Modular Home was blocking both lanes of traffic. Fire
Police Captain Jim Tice was first on scene. He asked for a second page
be dispatched for Department 11 and Department 15 Fire Police to assist
with shutting down route 187. The 2003 Freightliner that was hauling
the modular home was traveling in the north bound lane of Route 187 and
the 2003 Mack that was loaded with logs was traveling in the south
bound lane. The lag bolts holding the modular home to the trailer of
the 2003 Freightliner came loose, causing the home to fall off the
trailer and onto the roadway. With nowhere to go the entire cab of the
2003 Mack became
embedded inside the modular home section. The road remained shut down
as crew members removed the debris from the roadway. With all the
debris removed from the roadway Department 21, 11, and 25 units and
apparatus were put back in service at 1715.

Posted by: Jordan Palmer Around 2000 Department 21 was dispatched to a vehicle fire just off of Route 6 in Wysox Township. All apparatus responded and first arriving units confirmed a vehicle off the road fully involved. Attack 1 was driven to the vehicle and the flames were extinguished. With the fire out and all units and apparatus returning to the station, Department 21 was put back in service around 2100. Apr 10th Vehicle Fire On Tamarack:

At
1225 Department 21 was dispatched to a vehicle fire on Tamarack Road in
Standing Stone Township. First Assistant Chief Ron Yates arrived on
scene at 1230 to confirm , fully engulfed vehicle, endangering a
structure. Yates then asked for a Engine from Department 20 to assist.
Rescue 2 arrived on scene and provided the initial attack. The engine
from Department 20 was then recalled. Engine 6 arrived on scene with
manpower and water to supply the Rescue. Squad 7 also arrived with more
manpower. The fire was put out and units checked the structure for
damage. Units found only minimal damage to the front of the structure.
With the fire out Department 21, Rescue 2, Engine 6, and Squad 7
returned to quarters and we back in service at 1324.
Apr 2nd Car vs Pole in Wysox Township:

Right after we finished training, Around 2100, Department 21, Squad
7, Rescue 2, Engine 6 and Attack 1 were all dispatched to an accident
on 187 across from the Old Wysox Elem. School. Fire Police Captain Jim
Tice and Fire Police Lieutenant Jim Walker were first on scene. F.P.
Captain Jim Tice confirmed, 1 Vehicle off the road into a pole. with
the car and surrounding ground on fire, with no patients on scene.
After 5 minutes of searching the patients were located and put in the
EMS unit. Once PA State Police arrived, the road was shut down at the
intersection of Route 6 and Route 187, and at the intersection of Route
187 and Hill Side Drive. With traffic rerouted and the local power
company on scene, the local wrecker service was able to remove the car
from the side of the road. With the accident scene cleaned up, car
removed from the road, and the road reopened, Department 21 and all
responding apparatus and personal were put back in service. What an
ending to an exciting night!
Apr 2nd Training Night:

For training tonight we set a little field on fire and watched to make
sure it didn't go out of control. With a light wind, it was easy to see
how a field fire spreads so quickly. We got training on using Indian
tanks, training on Department 25's ATV. It was a good night to burn and
learn.

Around
1500 Department 21 and Squad 7 were dispatched to a disabled tractor
trailer at the intersection of Route 6 and Route 187. Captain Chad
Benjamin arrived to discover the trailer came unhooked from the Truck.
The road was kept open with one lane of traffic flow, while the
accident was being taken care of. After a local wrecker company arrived
and the tractor and trailer were removed from the road way. Department
21 and Squad 7 were put back in service around 1600. Another Bird In The Ball Field:

1350 Department 21 and Engine 6 we dispatched to a landing zone behind
the Fire House on the Ball Field. With Captain Chad Benjamin running
command, the bird was landed, the patient was put in the chopper and
Department 21 and Engine 6 returned in service at 1420.
Citizen Of The Year: Vivian Abbott: March 27th: At
its annual dinner on Thursday, the Wysox Chamber of Commerce named
our own Vivian Abbott of Wysox Township its 2007 Citizen of the Year. Abbott
received the award for her extensive and outstanding community service. Abbott is president of the Wysox Volunteer Fire Company auxiliary, a
position she has held for 10 years. She has volunteered for the
auxiliary for 30 years. She also runs the kitchen in the Wysox Fire
Hall, an operation that raises money for the fire company. She
volunteers through the Area Agency on Aging, reading weekly to a local
elderly woman. In the past, also volunteered for the Red Cross and the
Friends of the Towanda Library.

March 27th: Around
0940 department 21 was dispatched to a chimney fire on River Road in
Standing Stone Township. While responding, Lieutenant Barnes called for
an Engine and man power from Department 15 to respond. When Towanda
Fire Chief Billy Sheets arrived on scene he reported heavy smoke coming
from the chimney and 2nd floor. Once Wysox Chief Brett Keeney arrived
on scene he called for 2nd alarm, which dispatched, Department 15 and
20 and 25 for an air truck. Units on scene then began a roof and
interior attack. Units interior reported heavy smoke conditions and
moderate extension into the walls and ceilings. After establishing PPV
(positive pressure ventilation) crews were able to determine there was
a block in the chimney extending from the basement ceiling to the 2nd
floor ceiling. once the blockage was removed and all extensions
extinguished all units were put back into service at 1217.
Early Morning Car Fire:

0237 Department 21, Engine 6 , and Rescue 2 responded to a working car
fire at Fulmer Brothers in wysox township. First units on scene
reported working car fire endangering the structure. Lieutenant Barnes
arrived on scene at 0239 to confirm the report. Chief Brett Keeney
arrived on scene shortly after and immediately called for an Engine to
respond from Department 15. A few minutes after Engine 6 arrived,
Department 15 and their engine was recalled before they could respond.
Department 21 and crew had the fire out and returned in service at 0318.

Posted by: Jordan Palmer March 17th: Around 1500 Department 21, Attack 1, Tanker 5 and Engine 6 were dispatched to a good size brush fire on Pipher road in Wysox Township. First arriving officer, Fire Police Captian James Tice, reported a large corn field up in flames. Once Tice accessed the scene, he called for 21 Attack 1 and a brush truck from Department 25. Once Lieutenant Evan Barnes arrived, he called for Engine 6 and Tanker 5 to respond with manpower and assumed fire command. Once Department 25 arrived and joined forces with Department 21,the fire was marked controled at 1545. All responed personal and apparatus were placed back in service at 1615. Fly Bye: (Click Here For Pictures) March 10th: Department 21 and 21 Engine 6 were dispatched at 1532 for possible Landing zone for a fall victim who fell 12 to 15 feet. Lifeflight 3 was also dispatched to fly. With 1st Assistant Chief Ron Yates running command, Lifeflight 3 was landed at 1547 and the patient was put into the chopper and flown to the hospital.
