July 10th: Vehicle Fire Behind the Mini Mart
At 0937 Department 21 was dispatched to a vehicle fire located at the Wysox Dandy. First arriving units reported Engine Fire on a dully pickup truck. There were no exposures during the incident. With the fire out, units returned in service at 1006.
June 12th: Wysox EMS Brings Home a new Addition to the Family
Wysox EMS has just taken delivery of their new ambulance. The rig will be placed in service in mid July. The new ambulance will be added to the Wysox EMS line up. The citizens of the Wysox EMS coverage area will now have 2 ambulances to serve them, it will still be staffed by a highly training and experienced volunteer BLS crew. The Wysox Fire Company would like to congratulate Wysox EMS with their new purchase and for their part in helping the areas emergency response crews make this community a safer place to live.
June 3rd: Training Night
This weeks training was a joint training with departments 21,25, and 15. 15-Tower-2 came over to station 21 to do ventalation training.
April 24th: 4 Car MVA
Around 1600 Company 21 and Wysox Ems and Memorial ALS were dispatched to a 4 car pile up on Route six in the area of Ferrario Auto. First units on scene reported 4 vehicles, 2 patients to be transported, and east bound lane blocked. With patients packaged and vehicles removed the company was placed back in service and the road way was opened at 1700.
April 18th: Fire Destroys Building
Around 0710 Department 21 was dispatched to a building fire in Asylum Township. First units on scene confirmed a building fire at the business of Middendorf Contracting. A 2nd alarm was called for and Departments 11,15, and 25 were called to the scene to assist Department 21. Six pieces of apparatus were used at the scene. Captain Chad Benjamin reported the fire under control around 0800. With the fire out and everything picked up, Chief Brett Keeney put Department 21 back into service around 0900.
April 14th: Four Wheeler Fire
Around 1212 Department 21 was dispatched to a Four Wheeler fire in Asylum Township. 21 Attack 1 and 21 Squad 7 responded to the fire. Once on scene, the fire was put out and Department 21 returned in service around 1245.
April 12th: Easter Crash
Around 3:40pm Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 vehicle MVA on the Golden Mile in Wysox Township, in front of Wendys. First fire fighter on scene, Lieutenant Gary Knecht confirmed that 1 lane was blocked with the 2 vehicles. Once on scene Chief Evan Barnes assumed command of the incident. Once a local Rollback service was on scene, they removed both disabled vehicles. With the roadway opened, Department 21 returned to service around 4:20.
March 24th: Fire Prevention
Today some Department 21 personal went to the Towanda Elem. School and taught grades k-4 thru 3rd fire prevention. Chiefs Tracy Gowin and Evan Barnes along with Fire Fighter Jordan Palmer instructed the students and teachers to get out of the house as soon as possible and not to be scared of fire fighters. They showed students their gear and how it is used to protect them in a fire. They also showed the students air packs and some of the tools they use on fire scenes. The Fire Fighters then took the students out to Engine 3 and let Students, Teachers and Parents tour the truck. At the end of the presentations students and teachers were given little goody bags full of information.
March 24th: Citizen Of The Year: Jack Kilmer
At its annual dinner on Tuesday, The Wysox Chamber of Commerce named our own Jack Kilmer the 2008 Citizen Of The Year!
March 21st: Garage Fire
At 0110 Departments 21 and 15 were dispatched to smoke coming from a garage on Leisure Drive in Wysox Township. First chief on scene confirmed fire inside of the 3 bay garage. The interior crew made a hard attack on the fire and made a stop. No one was injured during the fire.
March 18th: Change Your Batteries
Did you change the batteries in your smoke detectors when you changed your clocks? The NFPA reports that 65% of home fire deaths between the years 2000 through 2004 occurred in homes with no working smoke detectors. Just a simple reason to make sure that you have working smoke detectors with new batteries installed in your homes.
Feb 21st: Another Fire on Second Street
While hosting an EVOC class in Wysox, Departments 21, 15, 7, and 25 were dispatched to a House fire on Second street with 3-4 residents entrapped around 1215. With the engine on scene Department 21 preformed a search (Gowin and Barnes) of the basement while the engine crew for Dept 15 made an attack on the fire. The Dept 21 crew searched the basement, then 2nd floor, and then the first floor. No patients were found, the reports of trapped residents were found to be false. The fire is still under investigation at this time.
Feb 17th: 1 Vehicle Crash:
At 1140 Department 21 and Wysox Ems were dispatched to a 1 car MVA. The car was reported to be on its roof, in the creek, smoking, with a patient still in the vehicle. First officer on scene reported 1 patient still in the vehicle, on it's roof not in the water. Units extricated the patient and the patient was transported via air ambulance to Robert Packer Hospital.
The vehicle left the road way at a high rate of speed, glanced off a tree and went airborn and cleared a 50-60 foot culvert, after landing it ran up the side of another tree that rolled it in the air again into the second story of a house. The vehicle came to rest on its roof up against the house with the patient still inside. Department 21 and all units returned in service at 1314.
Feb 8th: 1 Vehicle Roll Over:
Around 2223 Department 21 was dispatched to a 1 vehicle roll over on Route 187 south, just before the bridge. First arriving units reported 1 vehicle off the roadway on it's roof. With the patient self extricated, and the vehicle off the roadway Department 21 returned in service at 2257.
Feb 7th: 6 Patient MVA
Around 1400 Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 car MVA. First units on scene reported 6 patients and all would have to be transported. Assisting Department 21 with patient packaging and removal were Wysox EMS, Memorial EMS and Ulster EMS. Once Pennsylvania State Police completed their investigation of the accident scene, and all debris was removed from the road Department 21 and all units returned in service at 1500.
Feb 7th: 2 Alarm at Jackson's Trailer Court:
Around 1030 Department 21 was dispatched to a reported trailer fire at Jackson's Trailer Court. First arriving units reports a fully engulfed trailer. Chief Keeney called for a 2nd alarm. The flames were extinguished and all units returned in service at 1230.

Feb 1st: 2nd Street House Fire
At 2355 Department 15 was dispatched to a possible house fire on 2nd street in Towanda. Towanda 1 immediately called for a 2nd alarm which included Department 21 (Wysox) and Department 25 (North Towanda), There was also a special request made for a Truck (Ladder) out of Athens. First units off the engines made a hard attack on the 3rd floor of the structure. Due to the complexity of the home being converted into apartments the fire was very hard to find. After crews gained access to a stair well through a door that had been turned into a wall they finally made an attack on the seat of the fire which was running through the ceilings. All units were in service around 0330. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Jan 19th: House Fire
Around 2040 Department 21 with Wysox Ems were dispatched to a house fire on French Town Road. Once responding Chief 1 called for a second alarm which included 15 and 25, (Towanda and North Towanda). First chief on scene reported heavy fire in the garage portion of the house, and extending rapidly into the dwelling area of the structure, negative entrapment. 21 Engine 3 arrived on scene minutes later. The initial crew gained access to the front door of the house and made an aggressive attack on the fire from the interior as the second hand line made an exterior attack from the rear of the house. The interior crew made a very fast stop on the fire and kept it from claiming the rest of the home.

Asylum Fire
At 1700 Departments 21 and 15 along with Wysox EMS were dispatched to a automatic alarm at P&C Foods. Second notification alerted water flow alarm. First Chief on scene reported a pipe rupture next to one of the heads in the entrance. Units found the main shut off for the sprinkler system and deactivated the water flow. Units back in service at 1730.
Jan 16th: 2 more cars on Route 6
At 1545 Department 21 was dispatched to a 2 car MVA in front of the Dandy in Wysox. Units arrived on scene to find 2 cars off the road way. With 2 sign off's, (Patients that do not need to be transported to the hospital) the department remained on scene until Pennsylvania State Police arrived. The department was back in service at 1605.
Jan 16th: 2 Car MVA on Route 6
At 0835 department 21 was dispatched to a two car MVA with injuries and possible entrapment on Route 6 in front of Beers Motors. First unit on scene reported two class 2 patients and negative entrapment. With the road cleared and the patients en route to Memorial Hospital all units were back in service at 0925.
Jan 13th: 2 Car MVA on Route 6
At 1311 Department 21 and Wysox EMS was dispatched to a 2 car MVA on Route 6 by Wendy's. Units were on scene at 1313 and reported 1 vehicle with injuries. Vehicle was removed and Department 21 was put back in service at 1357
Jan 4th: Natural Gas Exploration
Penn State Cooperative Extension and the Bradford County Natural Gas Advisory Committee will be holding a “Natural Gas Exploration — Infrastructure and Development” workshop at the Wysox Fire Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 13.
Jan 2nd: 1 Car MVA
At 1100 this morning department 21 was dispatched to a one car MVA on Shores Hill, with reported 1 patient still in the vehicle. First units on scene reported one patient out of the vehicle with injuries. The patient was transported via ambulance by Wysox EMS, assisted by Memorial ALS. All units were back in service at 1213.
Jan 1st: New Years Day
At 1030 New Years day Dept. 21 was dispatched to a Structure filling with smoke in Asylum Township. First units on scene reported smoke showing from side A and called for a second alarm. Engine 3 (Benjamin) arrived on scene within minutes and made a hard attack through the front door. A second crew gained access to the second floor and preformed a primary search and began horizontal ventilation. The fire was contained to one room and all units were back in service at 1230.
